As I also teach discourse analysis, their papers are often about the application of FG in analysing all sorts of discourse, rather than about the complexities of the grammar itself. In recent years, I try to simplify FG teaching to MA students by focusing on the key toolkits in discourse analysis, rather than going into the more subtle, theoretical aspects of some concepts. This term I have more students coming to my FG class -- I'm really happy about it.”
