The main aim of the association is the organisation of Systemic-Functional events, and the promotion of Systemic-Functional Linguistics in the International context. ISFLA has come into existence primarilly to organise the International Systemic-Functional Congress. It is still the body which determines the sites of this conference, which rotates around the globe. ISFLA also aims to propagate information about Systemic-Functional Linguistics to all interested.
