Conference Coach to Miraflores

For those travelling in to Miraflores during the first day of the workshop (Wednesday 28th), we will be running two coaches from the center of Madrid to the conference center in Miraflores. The coach will leave Nuevos Ministerios at 11.30am on Wednesday 28th July, and again at 2pm. The coaches will pick up people at Plaza Castilla on the way (approx 11.40). The trip will take approximately 1 hour. The first coach will allow you time to take lunch in La Cristalera before the first paper begins (at 3.30pm). Those taking the second coach should take lunch before boarding the coach.
  • From the Airport to Nuevos Ministerios: There is a direct metro line from the airport to Nuevos Ministerios, so those who are arriving at the airport that morning can take this metro. It is set up for airport travellers (lots of baggage space). In the airport, follow the signs which will take you on a 10 minute walk to the metro. Metro tickets cost €1.15, and if you intend to spend time in Madrid, buy a Bonotren (10 tickets at about 50% of the normal price). Inside the ticket barrier, go down the escalators on the left hand side. Then take any train on that line. Stay on the train until the final stop, Nuevos Ministerios.
  • In Nuevos Ministerios: when you get off the train, go up the escalator (or elevator) one flight, exit the Metro turnstyles, go to your right, turning the corner behind the elevator. Walk straight ahead (passing the ticket office on your left) until you see a grey sign which says "Salida, Raimundo Fernández Villaverde/Pso. Castellana", pointing to a set of stairs/escalator right off to your right. Go up that escalator, out of the doors at the top. On your right as you come out is the Paseo de la Castellana. Cross that (a very wide and busy street) and the bus (a nice red and orange one) will be waiting on the opposite side of the street, more or less outside of Paseo de la Castellana, 110.   • Taking the coach in Plaza Castilla: For those who need it, the first coach only will stop in Plaza Castilla to pick up people, at 11.40 (allow for us to be running a minute or 3 late). The coach will stop outside the Hotel ABBA Castilla Plaza, which is north of the plaza (the big roundabout), just beyond the bus stands, on the right. See the map here.
