The conference theme is "Functional Fraternity": Functional linguistic
theories differ from their formal counterparts to the extent that
function theories explicitly bring in the cotextual values of Form,
whereas formal theories tend to ignore this aspect. The Functional
schools themselves, including Lexical-Functional theory,
Role-Reference Theory, Functional Grammar (Dik) and Systemic
Functional Theory, handle the form-function dialectic in different
ways. Papers exploring the form-function dialectic from a particular
theory, or contrasting approaches from different schools, will be
particularly welcome. Papers outside the theme will also be
considered.
Registration:
Fees include morning/afternoon tea/coffee
during session breaks Monday to Saturday and lunch on all 6 days.
The Registration fee can be remitted through International
cheques/drafts/Money Orders made payable to Systemic Functional
Linguistics Association at Lucknow for crediting to Account No. SB
