"Exploring
meaning-making: field and the ideational metafunction"
The central focus of this workshop will be the ideational metafunction
- the experiential and logical functions - of meaning-making. The
following are some suggested areas for investigation: the
contextual field through which ideational meaning is
made and conveyed,
layers of meaning through the transitivity system,
multi-modality and ways of modelling experience,
how experiential meaning is realised through the message,
links with the interpersonal and the textual functions,
agency and subjectivity,
process participants and circumstances associated with the
process,
the representation of logical relations linked to the other
meta-functions,
theories of context that underpin the ideational function of
meaning-making
